- In 2010 the Government of India, decorated him with the Padma Bhushan for civil service; at the hands of Smt. Pratibha Patil, the then President of India.
He was not only a Jnyan yogi but also a Karma Yogi. From 1990 to 1995, he was the First Vice Chancellor of Goa University and he has immense contribution in setting of Goa University in its new campus.
